Pair of Relays Win Conference Titles at Landmark
Hackett earns all-conference in 5,000 meters
SELINSGROVE, Pa. - The Catholic University women's indoor track and field squad took fourth place at the Landmark Conference Championship Saturday at Susquehanna University. The Cards scored 48 points at the meet.
The two distance relays won their respective events to take a pair of conference titles. The 4x800 meter relay ran a 10:19.87 giving it the victory. The squad was made up of Letty Williams (Sturbridge, M.A./Marianapolis Prep), Madeline Cronan (Denver,Colo./B. Mochebeuf), Mary Shashaty (Scotch Plains, N.J./Scotch Plains-Fanwood) and Remy Ball (Newtown, Conn./Newtown). The distance medley relay also won its race in a time of 13:45.56. Jenna Hackett (Fort Collins, Colo./Fort Collins), Cronan, Williams and Shashaty competed for the Cards.
In individual events, Hackett was the top point scorer earning second team all-conference honors with a second place finish in the 5,000 meters running a 19:37.72. Ball had two fourth place finishes with a 5:38.13 in the mile and a 2:26.42 in the 800 meters. In field events, Kelly Szal (Massapequa Park, N.Y./Kellenberg Memorial) placed fourth in the triple jump leaping 10.01 meters.
Moravian won the championship with 213 points.
The Cards are finished for the indoor season but go right into outdoor in the coming weeks.
