Kolbeck ties for fifth in pole vault

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Three Catholic University track team members qualified to compete in the Eastern College Athletic Conference championship meet this past weekend in Massachusetts.  No Cardinal qualified for the NCAA championship but three solid showings highlighted the day.

Freshman pole vaulter Andrew Kolbeck (Pewaukee, Wis/Trinity Academy) had the best finish of the day tying for fifth with a 4.40 meter jump.  He ended up 10th overall in the standings.  Also for the men, was Eric Schoeffling (Norristown, Pa./La Salle) who threw the javelin 48.08 meters which was good enough for a 22nd place finish.

On the women's side, sophomore Remy Ball (Newtown, Conn./Newtown) was the lone competitor for the Cardinals.  Ball ran in the 1,500 meters placing 25th in a time of 4:54.05.

The meet concluded CUA's track and field season as well as all Cardinal events for the 2007-08 school year.
