Women's Track Competes in Dickinson Invitational

CARLISLE, Pa.- The Catholic University women's track & field team managed to finish ninth at this past weekend's Dickinson College Invitational.  The Cardinals finished with a score of 34 points falling just one point short of eighth place behind Lebanon Valley College.

Messiah College came out of the invitational on top with a score of 124 points out of a total of 15 teams that participated in the event.  The squad was lead by junior Remy Ball (Newton Conn. /Newton) who had a remarkable third place finish in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:28.85 marking her best time in this event for the 2008-2009 indoor seasons thus far.  In addition to her performance in the 800 meter, Ball managed to finish second in the mile run with another individual best time of 5:27.83.

The Women's 4x400 meter relay took second place in the event in a dominating performance.  Not only did the Women's team have a strong showing on the track but Catholic Freshmen Kelly Carioto (Pittsburgh, Pa. /Allegheny) dominated the shot-put event by taking first place with a throw of 11.33 meters.  The Cardinals look to build off their solid performance as they enter their last meet before Landmark Championships as they travel to Christopher Newport on Saturday February 21st.  The meet is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. and will mark the last Mason-Dixon track meet for many of the graduating seniors.
