Women’s Track Finds Success at Battleground Relays
FREDERICKSBURG, Va.- The Catholic University women’s track team earned a number of high finishes at the Battleground Relays over the weekend, including two first place honors for Katie Sascker and Kelly Carioto.
Sacker secured her 1st place finish in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 13:46.60. Teammate Kathryn Crawford finished second in the event with a time of 16:02.80. Carioto continued her season-long dominance in the shot put event, earning first place with a toss of 12.08m.
The CUA relay team of Melanie Mulkern, Indra Gomez, Ashley Suermann, and Rachel Won saw success in both the 4x200m relay and the 4x400m relay events; the team earned two third places finishes with times of 1:54.44 and 4:20.89, respectively.
Laura Kinley finished fourth in the 1500m run with a time of 5:10.36, while teammate Meghan Dietzler secured fifth with a time of 5:10.61. Remy Ball also earned 9th in the event, finishing in 5:17.79.
Suzanna Dawyot rounded out the highest finishes for Catholic University, earning 7th in the high jump with a leap of 1.42m.
The women’s track team will look to build upon their successes next Saturday, March 27, as they head to Towson, Md., for the Goucher Invitational.
