Women's Track, XC Members Earn All-Conference, Regional Accolades
WASHINGTON- Six members of the CUA women's track and field team were named to the 1st Team All-Conference for their efforts this year.
Among the honorees were four members of the freshman class, showing promise for future season. Laura Kinley (sprinter/ middle distance), Ashley Suermann (Middle Distance/ Hurdles), Meghan Deitzler (Middle Distance), and Melanie Mulkern (Sprinter) had outstanding freshman campaigns, and will only continue to progress while at CUA.
Senior Remy Ball and sophomore Kelly Carioto were a highly competitive duo, posting outstanding times and numbers in the Middle Distance and Shot put/ Discuss events, respectively. Both earned a number of top finishes, and helped lead the young Cardinal squad to strong showings at meets throughout the season.
Ball was also honored as a USTFCCCA 2009 Division III All-Academic Award recipient. The psychology major maintained a GPA of 4.0 throughout the season while leading the Cards to a fourth place finish in the Landmark Conference.
Additionally, the women's cross country team was named to the USTFCCCA NCAA Division III Women’s Cross Country All-Academic Team. The squad finished the year with a cummulative GPA of 3.59.
