Carioto Leads Women's Track to 5th Place Finish
WASHINGTON- Sophomore Kelly Carioto earned two first-place finishes at the Messiah College Invitational, as the Cardinals took fifth place out of 13 schools Saturday afternoon.
Carioto finished atop the shot put and hammer throw events with tosses of 11.97m and 37.85m, respectively. She also earned third place in the discuss throw with a distance of 33.50m.
Rachel Won also had an solid performance at the meet. The sophomore finished third in the 400m hurdles (71.72), sixth in the 100m hurdles (17.63), and twelfth in the long jump (3.93m). Teammate Megan Dietzler ran the 3000m Steeplechase in 12.43.41, securing a second place spot at the meet.
CUA's relay teams were also among the top performers this weekend. Helene Nicoletti, Laura Kinley, Dietzler, and Remy Ball earned second in the 4x800 meter relay. The team of Won, Ashley Surerman, Suzanne Dawyot, and Melanie Mulkern won third in the 4x400 meter relay, while Emma Marty, Surerman, Dawyot, and Mulkern took fourth in the 4 x 800 meter relay.
Catholic will look to build off their successes from this week's meet on Saturday, April 17, as they compete in the Dickinson Invitational at 10 a.m.
