Carioto honored for work in and out of the classroom
WASHINGTON – Kelly Carioto has been named to the 2011
CoSIDA Academic All-District Team, it was announced on
Thursday. Carioto earned a spot on the District 2 Second
Team. A native of Pittsburgh, Carioto captured the 2011 shot
put title at the Landmark Conference indoor championship and the
ECAC indoor championship.
A history major with an overall grade point average of 3.94,
Carioto had a terrific year for the Cardinals. In addition to
winning the pair of indoor championships she also won the shot put
title at the Lebanon Valley Invite and the Dickinson Invite and
placed fifth in the event at the Frank Colden Invite.
Carioto was named the Landmark Conference Female Field Athlete of
the Week on two occasions this academic year and placed second in
the shot put at the conference outdoor championships. Also at
that meet, she finished fourth in the hammer throw.
Carioto then went on to compete at the ECAC outdoor championship
where she finished sixth in the shot put and fourth in the
discus.
Carioto is a three-time All-Landmark Conference selection, a
multi-year member of the Landmark Conference Academic Honor Roll
and was named to the 2011 Landmark Conference Winter All-Academic
Team.
