Carioto claims 2011 ECAC shot put title

NEW YORK - CUA's Kelly Carioto captured the 2011 ECAC shot put championship on Friday afternoon with a throw of 42' at the New York Armory.  It was a personal record for Carioto as she becomes the Cardinals first ECAC women's track champion in recent memory.  This is Carioto's second championship in as many weeks after she took first at the Landmark Conference championship with a throw of 36'10 ¼" on February 26.

Carioto was the lone Cardinal to compete at this year's ECAC championships.  Her throw of 12.80-meters puts her on the provisional list for this year's NCAA championships.

The junior from Pittsburgh also took first in the shot at the Dickinson Invitational (Feb. 20) and Lebanon Valley Invitational (Jan. 29) earlier this season.
