Three top-four finishes lead to second straight award for Carioto

WASHINGTON – The Landmark Conference has honored Kelly Carioto as the Female Field Athlete of the Week, it was announced on Monday.  This marks the second straight week that Carioto earned the accolade after she posted three top-four finishes over the weekend at the Bridgewater Invitational.

Carioto finished second in the hammer throw with a toss of 41.04 meters and later took third in the discus (31.46 meters).  The native of Pittsburgh closed out the competition with a fourth-place showing in the shot put (11.26 meters).

It’s been quite a run for Carioto of late.  She won the Landmark Conference shot put championship on February 26 and one week later she was crowned the ECAC champion in the same event.  Now in each of the last two weeks the junior has been named the conference’s female field athlete of the week.

Carioto and CUA return to action this weekend when the Cardinals compete at the York Invitational on Saturday, April 2.
