CUA opens spring season; Carioto posts three strong finishes
FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – CUA opened its outdoor season on
Saturday at the Battleground Relays on the campus of Mary
Washington. Kelly Carioto posted the top individual finish,
with a pair of third place finishes in the hammer throw
(129’1”) and discus (112’10”) and a fourth
place finish in the shot put (37’4 ½”)
In the 100-meter dash Ali Nelson finished fourth with a time of
13.59, while Laura Kinley took seventh in the 1500, crossing in
5:13.47. Keely Eckberg (12) and Jessica Breen (13) also
posted top-15 finishes in the 1500.
In the 3000-meter steeplechase Katie Sacker finished second,
crossing in 12:45.51 and Kathryn Crawford was fourth with a time of
14:18.20.
Rachel Won finished fourth in the 400 hurdles, with a time of
1:12.12 and in the 800 sprint medley CUA finished fifth with a time
of 2:01.03.
The Cardinals return to action on March 26 when they travel to
compete in the Bridgewater College Invitational.
