Carioto takes first in shot put at Dickinson Invite
CARLISLE, Pa. – Junior Kelly Carioto continued her strong season for the CUA women's track and field team as she won the shot put with a throw of 38' ¼" at the Dickinson Invitational on Saturday. The Cardinals finished 11th out of 20 schools at the event, as CUA totaled 26 points.
In the 55 hurdles, Rachel Won crossed in sixth place with a time of 9.66 seconds, and in the 55 meter dash, freshman Ali Nelson finished in fourth place, crossing in 7.81.
In the mile, freshman Camelia Mayfield crossed in eighth place with a time of 5:34.31, with Laura Kinley (15), Keely Eckberg (18) and Jessica Breen (19) all posting top-20 finishes.
Mayfield also competed in the 800, where she placed seventh with a time of 2:31.58, and Nelson competed in the 200, crossing in sixth place with a time of 28.18.
Kinley (1:07.12) and Melanie Mulkern (1:07.31) went nine-ten in the 400 meters,
Host Dickinson won the team title with 115.5 points, followed by Gettysburg (55.5), McDaniel (51), Delaware Valley (43) and DeSales (42).
CUA will return to action next weekend when the Cardinals close out their 2011 indoor season at the Landmark Conference championships. Action takes place at Susquehanna University.
