Carioto crowned Landmark champion in shot put
SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Junior Kelly Carioto captured the shot put championship with a throw of 36'10 ¼" on Saturday to lead the CUA women at the 2011 Landmark Conference championship. In the team standings the Cardinals scored 46 points to place fourth overall.
In the mile Kathryn Sacker crossed in a time of 5:34.00, which was good for fourth place and four points, while in the 800, Laura Kinley finished in second place with a time of 2:25.57.
Ali Nelson crossed in 7.90 seconds to place fifth in the 55 meter dash and Camelia Mayfield crossed in fourth place in the 5000, posting a time of 19:14.79.
The distance medley relay team of Laura Kinley, Melanie Mulkern, Madeline Cronan and Mayfield placed second with a time of 13:05.93 to earn eight team points for CUA and the 4x800 relay team of Rachel Won, Cronan, Sacker and Kinley finished in 10:10.53, which was also good for second place.
Moravian was the team champion with 201.5 points with Susquehanna in second with 121.5 points and Juniata third with 101. CUA was next with 46 points, followed by Goucher (40) and Merchant Marine Academy (11).
The Cardinals will begin their 2011 outdoor season on March 18 when CUA travels to Mary Washington to compete at the Battleground Relays.
