CUA wraps up action at 2011 Landmark Conference championship
HUNTINGDON, Pa. – The Cardinals wrapped up competition at
the 2011 Landmark Conference outdoor championships on Sunday.
Kelly Carioto finished second in the shot put, Laura Kinley placed
third in the 800 and the 4x400 relay team also finished third in
its event. As a team CUA finished in fifth place with 70
points.
Kinley raced her way to a third place finish in the 800 after
crossing in 2:21.51, while in the 400 meters, Ali Nelson crossed in
fifth place with a time of 1:03.97.
Jessica Breen crossed in tenth place in the 5000 with a time of
19:52.97 with Keely Eckberg right behind her in 11th place
(20:13.94). In the 100 hurdles, senior Rachel Won completed
the race in 17.15 seconds to place fifth, and in the 400 hurdles,
she crossed in sixth place with a time of 1:13.08.
Three Cardinals, including Camelia Mayfield (12:25.61), Katie
Sacker (12:27.35) and Kathryn Crawford (13:56.79) competed in the
3000 steeplechase, finishing sixth, seventh, and tenth,
respectively.
The 4x400 relay team of Margaret McElroy, Ali Nelson, Laura Kinley
and Melanie Mulkern raced its way to a third place finish with a
time of 4:19.27.
In the field events Carioto finished second in the shot put with a
throw of 37’4 ½” and she also notched a fourth
place finish in the hammer (124’1”). In the
javelin Won placed sixth with a throw of 92’4”.
Moravian captured the team crown with 252 points, followed by
Susquehanna with 197 and Juniata with 161. Goucher was fourth
with 77 points and CUA (70) and Merchant Marine Academyc (5)
rounded out the team scoring.
