Abdelrazek honored by AVCA for 400th career victory
SAN ANTONIO – On October 1, CUA Head Coach Nagy Abdelrazek earned his 400th career victory with a 3-0 sweep of Merchant Marine Academy. Abdelrazek and the Cardinals breezed past the Mariners 25-11, 25-8 and 25-14 for the historic win, and on Thursday, Abdelrazek was honored by the American Volleyball Coaches Association.
Abdelrazek is currently in San Antonio, Texas for the 2011 NCAA Tournament. Kathey DeBoer, the AVCA Executive Director, presented Abdelrazek with a plaque commemorating his 400th career victory on Thursday, prior to the Division I national semifinals.
Abdelrazek is one of only three CUA coaches to earn 400 career wins, joining longtime tennis coach Marty Dowd, who has over 500 victories, and Ross Natoli, the CUA baseball coach.
Set to enter his 20th season in 2012, Abdelrazek has registered 12 20-win seasons on the CUA sidelines, including this year when he led the Cardinals to a 25-9 record and a spot in the Landmark Conference Tournament semifinals. This marked the third straight semifinal trip and 20-win season for CUA.
Abdelrazek will enter 2012 with 412 career victories.
