Jean named Player of the Week for second time in three weeks
WASHINGTON – For the second time in three weeks, Claudia
Jean has been named the Landmark Conference Player of the Week, it
was announced on Monday. Jean had another strong week of play
for the Cardinals, as they went 3-1 and clinched the No. 2 seed in
the upcoming Landmark Conference Tournament.
Jean averaged 3.73 kills and 5.20 digs per set, while hitting .209
for the week. She posted three double-doubles, beginning with
16 kills and 23 digs in a 3-1 win at Hood on Thursday evening.
The senior then totaled 18 kills and 32 digs vs. nationally ranked
Juniata on Saturday, before closing out her week with 20 kills and
17 digs in a 3-1 win over Moravian. That win gave CUA a 5-1
record within the Landmark Conference and clinched the No. 2 seed
in the tournament.
Jean is currently sixth in the conference in kills with 230 total
(2.91/set) and second in digs with 433 (5.48/set).
CUA’s five conference wins this season are its most since
2007.
Jean and her teammates are back in action on Saturday afternoon
when the Cardinals take on Shenandoah (1 p.m.) and Roanoke (3 p.m.)
in Roanoke, Va.
