Cardinals sweep Ohio Christian for third straight win
WASHINGTON – CUA earned its third straight win on Friday, cruising past Ohio Christian 3-0 inside the DuFour Center. The Cardinals won the three sets by scores of 25-15, 25-14 and 25-16 to improve to 7-3 on the year, while the Trail Blazers fall to 5-2.
Senior Katie Chefalas led the Cardinals with 13 digs, to go along with five kills. She was joined by Kristina Purcell in double figures in digs with 10.
Senior Kelly Crimmins led the team with four solo blocks and eight total, to go along with a team-high seven kills. Junior Bridget Kulesh also had a strong night, with three solo and five total blocks as well as five digs and four kills.
Freshmen Mariana Cruz (11) and Fallon Foster (8) were the leaders in assists, with classmate Audrey Bizak adding three kills, four digs and three blocks.
CUA totaled 50 digs as a team, in addition to 22 kills and 20 blocks.
Friday's win marked the Cardinals' third consecutive sweep and sixth of the 2012 season.
CUA returns to action tomorrow with a pair of matches at home. The Cardinals will begin their day with a 1 p.m. showdown vs. Lancaster Bible, before closing things out against Washington College at 3.
CUA will then hit the road for three weeks before returning home on Friday, October 5 to face Gwynedd-Mercy.
