WASHINGTON – During Misericordia's tri-match on Saturday, Sept. 21, the Catholic University Cardinals added two wins on the season with a 3-0 sweep of Rutgers-Camden and a 3-1 win over the Pennsylvania host.
CUA overcame Rutger-Camden in three sets with scores of 25-17, 25-22, 25-16 and defeated Misericordia in four sets with scores of 18-25, 25-13, 25-14, 25-18.
Mary Paige Nesfeder tallied a match-high 11 kills and 11 digs, as offensive leader Mariana Cruz distributed 20 assists and collected a pair of service aces. Michelle Bouchard led the digging effort with 18 in the match and Kathryn Herrington blocked three Rutgers-Camden attempts.
In four sets of action against the Dallas, Pa., host Nesfeder once again led the kill game with a team-high 17 kills and match-high five service aces. Cruz, who has been the Cardinals primary setter all season long, circulated 32 assists. Bouchard dominated the back row defense with a team-high 23 digs, as Herrington collected two solo blocks and assisted on six.
The Cards break away from tournament action for single match at Lancaster Bible College on Tuesday, Sept. 24.
CUA is 6-6 on the season.
