Washington – The Cardinal volleyball team split Saturday play with a 3-0 win over Eastern Mennonite and a 3-1 loss to Bridgewater.
In the Cards' three set 25-21, 25-19, 25-12 victory against Eastern Mennonite, Kalen Backe led with 10 kills, Mariana Cruz distributed 26 of the squads' 29 assists and collected a team-high 29 digs. Kathryn Herrington stopped three EMU hitting attempts on her own for three solo blocks in the win.
Catholic fell in four sets with scores of 25-19, 25-11, 21-25, 25-18 to the Bridgewater host. Herrington led the offensive effort with 11 kills, while Cruz circulated all 28 assists of the match. Michelle Bouchard finished with 23 digs and Herrington assisted in the defensive effort with four solo blocks.
CUA rounds out regular season home action on Thursday, Oct. 31 against Hood at 7 p.m.
