Catholic Volleyball Falls to McDaniel

WASHINGTON — The Catholic University of America volleyball team went up against an 11-1 McDaniel team entering Wednesday night and fell to a game Green Terror squad in straight sets, 3-0.

McDaniel hit .265 for the match including .351 and .324 marks in the first two sets. The Green Terror also racked up 45 kills to Catholic's 26 as they held Catholic under the 20-point mark twice.

The Cardinals looked to rally in the second stanza as they closed to 23-20 on the Terror, but McDaniel closed it out 25-22 before taking the final set, 26-15.

Seniors Tara Rempel and Brynn Cooley had a team-high six kills. Classmate Michelle Seals posted 10 assists while rookie Maria Gonzalez had a squad-best 10 digs to go along with seven assists and two service aces.

Catholic plays its first Landmark Conference Weekend this Saturday when the Cardinals travel to Scranton to take on the host Royals and Susquehanna, beginning at 11 a.m.
