Catholic Volleyball Strong in Win Over Gallaudet

WASHINGTON — The Catholic University of America volleyball team earned a win in straight-sets over crosstown foe Gallaudet, 3-0. The Cardinals road 12 kills from senior Brynn Cooley to the victory.

Cooley nearly double-doubled with nine digs as the Cards held the Bison to 13 points or less in the first two sets, before closing out the third, 25-21.

Rookie setter Maria Gonzalez was right with the pace of Cooley and also just missed the double-dip with a match-high 25 assists and nine digs.

Fellow freshman Christina Ciola was also impressive as she posted a game-high 18 digs.

Senior Amy O'Connor and sophomore Isabelle Cooper were strong at the net as they combined for nine blocks.

The Cardinal defense also held Gallaudet to seven-or-less individual kills and a -.019 hitting percentage as a team.

Winners of two-straight games, the Cards will look to carry their momentum into their first home Landmark weekend in two years as they host Goucher and Juniata this Saturday, with the first match set for noon.
