CUA Rolls Over Gophers
Kathryn Fischer knocks down 12 kills
TOWSON, Md. - CUA volleyball (12-10, 2-2) the Goucher Gophers Tuesday evening in Townson, Md. This improved the Cardinals to .500 in the CAC. Freshman middle hitter Kathryn Fischer (St. Paul, Minn./Cretin Durham Hall) had a big game for the Cards with 12 kills.
In game one, CUA beat the Gophers by a narrow 30-25 margin of victory. Carey Anne Nassib (West Chester, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) had two kills for the game.
During the second game senior Whitney Dachelet (Anniston, Ala./Donoho) had five kills to lead the Cards to a 30-26 victory. Looking at a 2-0 deficit, Goucher came back in game three and was able to pull out a 30-27 win sending it to a fourth game. Despite the loss, Fischer had five kills.
In the final game, CUA didn't mess around winning handily 30-17. The team only had nine kills in the fourth game, but the defense was strong enough to win.
Fischer and Dachelet both had 12 kills for the evening and Bethi Pritchard (New Orleans, La./Ben Franklin) added 23 digs. Emily McGlynn (Tallahassee, Fla./Leon) had 40 assists as the team's starting setter.
The Cardinals will make the short trip to Gallaudet this Friday and Saturday for a weekend tournament.
