Volleyball Wins Two at Washington Invitational
Fox and Fischer both have big days above the net

CHESTERTOWN, Md. - CUA Volleyball improved to 11-10 for the season with two wins at the Washington College Invitational Saturday in Chestertown, Md.  The team saw big performances from both Kilah Fox (Philadelphia, Pa./Merion Mercy) and Kathryn Fischer(St. Paul, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall) at the net to take home the two victories.

The Cardinals won the first match 3-0 against Villa Julie (10-6).  CUA had numerous Cards contribute to the victory including 13 kills by Fox.  Whitney Dachelet (Anniston, Ala./Donoho) added nine and Carey Anne Nassib (West Chester, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) killed seven balls.  Jessica Schoenfeld (West Windsor, N.J./Painsboro) had a notable performance in the back court with five service aces.  Catholic University took three straight games 30-19, 30-19 and 30-17.

Host Washington College (3-14) put up a bit more of a fight in CUA's second game of the invite.  After winning the first game 30-20, the Cardinals dropped the second 30-27.  Catholic University regrouped for the third game and was able to pull out a close 30-25 victory to send it to four games.  In the fourth, CUA dominated winning 30-15.  Dachelet led the front row with 19 kills and Fischer made a huge impact with 16.  Junior Emily McGlynn (Tallahasse, Fla./Leon) had 52 assists for the match.

The Cardinals will make the short trip to Goucher this Tuesday for a CAC match beginning at 7:00 p.m.
