Cards Down Blazers in Five
CUA improves to 12-8 on the season

FREDRICK, Md.- The Catholic University volleyball team (12-8) continued their strong play Monday evening with a 3-2 win over the Hood Blazers (2-15).  The game marked the third time the squads have met this season with the Cardinals holding a 3-0 advantage in the series.

The Cards fell in the first game 30-24 but came back to win game two 30-16.  Unfortunately they couldn't hold on to the momentum as Hood took game three 30-24.  CUA regrouped and defeated the Blazers 30-22 in the fourth and by a tight score of 15-12 to win the fifth game and match.

Carey Anne Nassib (West Chester, Pa./Villa Maria) led CUA with 23 kills in five games played.  Nassib also had an ace and 18 digs for the match.  Mary Kate Gardner (San Francisco, Calif./Sacred Heart Cathedral Prep) added nine kills and 18 digs while Kilah Fox (Philadelphia, Pa./Merion Mercy) had seven kills.  Emily McGlynn (Tallahassee, Fla./Leon) posted 37 assists and four aces for the day.

The squad will travel to Mary Washington on Thursday for a contest against the Eagles beginning at 7 p.m.
