Volleyball Goes 1-2 in Landmark Round Robin


WASHINGTON- The CUA volleyball team went 1-2 in a Landmark Conference Round Robin Tournament on Saturday and Sunday. In game one, the Cards faced off against Merchant Marine, sweeping the Mariners in three games. Kilah Fox (Philadelphia, Pa./Merion Mercy) earned eight kills and 7 defensive digs in the contest, while teammate Michaela Carroll (Amityville, N.Y./Kellenberg Memorial) chipped in 26 set assists, six digs, and two service aces. The Cardinals took game one 25-15, game two 26-24 and game  three 25-18.

CUA then took the court against the University of Scranton, dropping three games to the Royals, 25-16, 25-20, and 25-9. Leading the way for the Cards was Kim Ray (Chicago, Ill./Regina Dominican) with 9 kills and 12 digs. Gabrielle Dipasquantonio (Middletown, Del./ St. Mark's) also contributed 10 digs in the loss.

In their final game of the afternoon, the Cardinals faced Susquhanna University. Despite a late comeback in games two and three, the squad fell to the Crusaders 25-9, 25-22, and 25-13. Ray once again had a solid game for CUA, recording 8 kills, 7 digs, and one service ace. Alex Min-Tun (San Jose, Calif./Notre Dame) and Carroll also tallied 8 digs for the Cards.

The team returns to action Wednesday, October 8 for a 7 p.m., game against Mary Washington.
