No. 1 Seeded Catholic Overcomes Scranton

WASHINGTON- The Catholic University of America earned a 1-0
decision over number four seeded University of Scranton in the
semifinals of the Landmark Conference tournament at Cardinal
Stadium Wednesday afternoon.
Freshman forward Tracey Scanlon (North Wales, Pa./Gwynedd Mercy)
scored an unassisted goal in the 58th-minute of the second-half to
lift the Cardinals, now 12-6, into Saturday's championship game.
Junior goalie Marian Cassilly (Gambrills, Md./Archbishop Spalding)
finished with four saves for Catholic, which held an 11-6 advantage
in shots.
Earlier this year, Catholic University scored a 3-1 victory over
Scranton at Fitzpatrick Field. The Cardinals now hold a 3-0 lead in
the all-time series against the Royals.
CUA will face Juniata College on Saturday, November 5th for the Landmark Conference championship.
