Volleyball Improves to 4-1 with 3-0 Win Over Marymount
ARLINGTON, Va.-- Led by Claudia Jean who finished with 12 kills, the CUA women's volleyball team defeated Marymount 3-0 in Arlington, Va. on Thursday.
The Cardinals (4-1) are now only four wins away from matching their win total from 2008. CUA committed only nine attack errors in Thursday's win over Marymount (2-2). Jean accounted for 12 kills and zero errors while Molly Owens added eight kills of her own. Michaela Carroll handled most of the set assist for the evening grabbing 28 out of 35. Carroll also added three service aces for the Cardinals.
CUA opened the match with a tight 25-22 win in the first set, but defeated the hosts handily in the second, 25-16. In the third set Marymount again made things interesting, but ultimately fell to the Cardinals 25-23.
CUA will return to action on Sept. 12, as the Cardinals will travel to Stevenson University to take on Virginia Wesleyan, Ursinus, and Stevenson at 10 a.m., 12 p.m. and 3 p.m., respectively.
