Volleyball Drops Moravian and Goucher, 3-0


- Claudia Jean had 11 kills and 20 digs as CUA (18-9, 3-2 LC) dropped both Moravian and Goucher Colleges, 3-0 on Saturday.

Jean, along with Katie Chefalas, led the CUA attack that posted 60 kills in the two matches.  The Cardinals did not drop a single set on the day.  The closest two sets were in the first match of the day for CUA as Moravian marked 23 points in each, but ultimately fell to the hosts.

CUA first defeated Moravian, 25-13, 25-23, 25-23, then followed that match with a dominate win over Goucher, 25-19, 25-12, 25-17.  The Cardinals had 11 services aces and only 29 attack errors in the two matches. CUA is now alone in third place in the conference standings with only one match remaining.

The second day of Landmark Conference competition will continue beginning at 11 a.m. tomorrow as the teams reconvene at the DuFour Center to wrap up the 2009 conference schedule.
