Volleyball Spikes UDC, 3-0
WASHINGTON-- Kim Ray led the CUA volleyball team (21-9) to a 3-0 inter-division win over The University of the District of Columbia (Div. II, 3-9) on Saturday evening.
Ray, with eight kills on 17 attempts, led the CUA attack that landed 33 kills against its opponents. Michaela Carroll led the Cardinals with 26 set assists, adding nine defensive digs for the hosts. Kristina Purcell added another 14 digs for CUA and now has a team leading 484 for the season.
The Cardinals opened the match with a 25-17 win in the first set, as Ray led with five kills. Ray and the Cardinals needed only nine kills in each of the second and third sets, to walk away with set wins of 25-13 and 25-17.
CUA will return to action on Oct. 26 as the Cardinals will travel to Hood College. The match is set to begin at 7 p.m.
