CUA Volleyball in Puerto Rico (March 2011)
March 11
Well, all good things must come to an end. Today
was our last day and Coach literally had to drag us off the beach
to begin packing and get to the airport in time to catch our
flight.
Everyone was really sad to leave but the trip was absolutely
incredible and one we’ll never forget. We made so many
terrific memories and we know this was a great trip not only for
this team, but for the CUA volleyball program and the university as
well. We can see it paying off down the road.
We’d like to thank our Coach Nagy for giving us the chance
to come down here and enjoy a wonderful experience, Thanks
Coach!!! Now it’s back to reality. Classes start
up again next week but right now all we can think about are all the
great things we got to experience while in Puerto Rico.
Signing off for the final time!

We got going nice and early today, first grabbing
breakfast and then heading out for the northeast part of the
island. Claudia’s beach apartment is located there and
we were excited to go see it.
On our way to the apartment we made a stop at the grocery store
where we stocked up on food and drinks for the rest of the day,
including a meal the team cooked. After a long day in the sun
it was time for dinner and that meant CUA volleyball was hard at
work in the kitchen!
It was great to sit down and enjoy the fruits (and food) of our
labor and afterwards the only thing anyone wanted to do was return
to the hotel for some sleep.
It’s been a fantastic trip up to this point and we’re
hoping for more of the same tomorrow. Talk to you soon!

What a busy day it was! We traveled to three
Catholic high schools and had a chance to meet with their athletic
directors and college counselors as we helped them learn more
about Catholic University. We spoke about our school, our
athletic programs and of course our wonderful volleyball team
:)
In addition to our trips to the schools we snuck in some time at
the pool and on the beach (of course!) and did some relaxing.
Once our fun in the sun was over we headed to San Juan where most
of the team attended Ash Wednesday mass. Following that we
headed out for a great Puerto Rican dinner. Safe to say it
felt pretty good to walk back to the hotel after that meal because
we all needed it!
More fun is coming on Thursday, so check back soon!

Today was close to perfect with lots of time spent under
the sun and plenty of fun had by all. We started with some
beach volleyball, a favorite of many on the team as you can
imagine, and in total we spent about four hours on the beach and at
the pool just soaking up the rays. It was great!
Next we got ready to go visit old San Juan. We arrived
around 5 p.m. and had a nice time, but unfortunately Claudia
didn’t feel well, so she returned to the hotel to get some
rest. The rest of the team remained in San Juan and had a terrific
dinner at a fabulous local restaurant.
All in all it was a great day and Claudia is now feeling better so
we’re looking forward to more fun tomorrow.
Check back soon for our latest update!

What a great day we had today! We began with some
breakfast at our hotel and then loaded the bus around 8:30 and
headed for
the marina. Needless to say we were all pretty excited to be
getting on a boat after months of battling snow and ice back
home.
We got to Villa Marina about an hour later and the sailing
catamaran was waiting for us. Following a 55-minute boat ride
we stopped at our first island and did some snorkeling. It was
awesome!!
Next we ate lunch on the boat and sailed to our next destination,
which was about 20 minutes away. Then it was time for some
more snorkeling. I think we could get used to this lifestyle
:)
When our trip had finally come to an end we boarded the boat and
headed for the marina. Once there we hopped on a bus and went
back to our hotel for some much-needed rest. After a
power-nap we ate dinner at a great little restaurant nearby and
then it was back to the hotel for some a good night of sleep.
It was a wonderful day and an exhausting one too! But what
great memories we made. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow
has in store for us. Talk to you soon…
