CUA drops first two matches at Elizabethtown tourney
ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – CUA dropped a pair of matches on
Friday on the campus of Elizabethtown as the Cardinals fell to the
host Blue Jays 3-1 and in the second match, fell 3-1 to
Neumann. Following Friday’s action CUA sits at
6-6. CUA lost by a 25-23, 18-25, 25-19, 25-21 score vs.
Elizabethtown and 25-19, 22-25, 25-13, 25-20 against the
Knights.
Against Elizabethtown, Michael Carroll handed out a team-high 20
assists, while Ines Zanotti added 17. Claudia Jean tallied a
double-double with 15 kills and 12 digs and Katie Chefalas
contributed 12 digs.
Bridget Kulesh added eight kills for the Cardinals and Kelly
Crimmins totaled nine.
The Blue Jays were led by Holly Bubb with 19 kills and Lindsay Palm
with 16. Crystal Agnew handed out a match-high 43 assists and
four Elizabethtown players totaled double digit kills, led by
Andrea Weaver with 26.
In the second match, Zanotti registered 20 assists, while Carroll
added 17. Jean posted totals of 14 kills and seven digs, and
Himler added seven digs and one ace. Tess O’Leary
contributed seven kills as did Kulesh, and Chefalas led CUA with 17
digs.
The Cardinals will play a pair of matches again on Saturday when the Cardinals take on Immaculata and Gettysburg. Action begins at 10:00 AM from Elizabethtown.
