CUA wraps up action at Elizabethtown Tourney with split
ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – The Cardinals split a pair of matches
on Saturday as the Elizabethtown Tournament as CUA (7-7) downed
Immaculata 3-0 before falling to Gettysburg 3-0. Following
Saturday’s action Claudia Jean was named to the
All-Tournament Team.
In the opening match against Immaculata, CUA picked up a win by
set scores of 25-9, 25-13 and 25-14. Jean registered three
digs in the match, while Ines Zanotti (12) and Michaela Carroll
(13) both totaled double-digit assists. Bridget Kulesh led
the Cardinals with eight kills, while Tess O’Leary added five
and Katrina Baccetti registered six.
Katie Chefalas was the team leader in digs with eight, and
Baccetti added seven.
Kathleen Haefner led Immaculata with 12 assists and Allison Lang
was the team leader with three kills.
In the nightcap CUA suffered the loss by scores of 25-17, 25-21,
and 25-23. Jean had a strong match with nine kills and nine
digs, while Kulesh also registered nine kills.
Carroll had another double-digit assist match with 17 and she also
added two aces, while Molly Owens totaled three kills and a pair of
digs. Chefalas recorded seven kills and Kelly Crimmins led
CUA with two blocks.
Gettysburg got ten kills from Sarah Gorski and Courtyney Cyr,
while Rebecca Rubenstein notched 20 digs and Lizzy Kuhn added
ten.
CUA will return to action on Thursday, September 30 when the
Cardinals welcome Lancaster Bible to the DuFour Gymnasium.
Match time is set for 7:00.
