Jean named Landmark Conference Player of the Week
WASHINGTON – Following a weekend in which she helped lead
CUA to a perfect 4-0 showing and the championship of the Messiah
College Tournament, sophomore Claudia Jean was named the Landmark
Conference Player of the Week on Monday. Jean received
All-Tournament Team accolades for her performance as well.
In four matches over the weekend, Jean totaled 62 kills, 60 digs,
five blocks and five aces. She reached double-figures in
kills in all four contests and double-figures in digs in three.
In CUA’s opening match vs. Messiah, Jean registered a
double-double with 13 kills and 19 digs. She then backed that
performance up with a weekend-best 20 kills to go along with 12
digs vs. Misericordia.
In Saturday’s action, Jean began the day with 16 kills and
six digs against Penn State-Berks before registering 13 kills and
23 digs in a win over Scranton.
Jean averaged 4.43 kills and 4.82 points over the four matches
while hitting .246.
With her selection to the All-Tournament Team, it marked the
fourth time this season that the sophomore has achieved that
distinction.
Jean and the Cardinals return to action on Wednesday when they
play host to Scranton in the opening round of the 2010 Landmark
Conference Tournament. Match time from inside the DuFour
