Landmark Conference honors Jean as Player of the Week
WASHINGTON – For the second straight week the CUA
volleyball team produced the Landmark Conference Player of the Week
as Claudia Jean received the honor on Monday. Jean helped
lead CUA to a 3-2 record last week as she reached double figures in
kills in all five matches.
Jean totaled 69 kills and 87 digs last week as the Cardinals
defeated Emory & Henry, Penn State-Behrend and Meredith to post
a 3-1 record at the Worthington Classic. For her efforts,
Jean was named to the All-Tournament Team.
Jean started the week with 15 kills and 14 digs versus St.
Mary’s, while in her second match versus North
Carolina-Wesleyan, she totaled 27 digs and 10 kills.
The sophomore’s strong week continued with totals of 16
kills and 19 digs versus Emory & Henry as well as 15 kills and
19 digs against Penn State-Behrend. Jean closed out her week
with 13 kills and eight digs in a 3-0 win over Meredith. Jean
averaged 4.14 points and 4.83 digs over the five matches last week,
while adding five aces and a block.
On the season Jean has appeared in 22 matches for the Cardinals
and totaled a team-best 272 kills and 281 digs. In addition,
she has added 21 aces, 11 blocks and seven assists.
Jean and the Cardinals have another busy week ahead of them,
beginning with a match against York on Wednesday evening inside
DuFour Gymnasium. The match is scheduled to begin at
7:00.
