Cardinals drop road match at UDC
WASHINGTON – The CUA volleyball team suffered a 3-0
setback to the University of the District of Columbia on Tuesday
evening. The Firebirds won the three sets 25-15, 25-11 and
25-20. With the loss the Cardinals fall to 3-2, while UDC
remains unbeaten at 5-0.
Michaela Carroll led CUA with ten assists and added six digs,
while Katie Chefalas totaled ten digs and four kills. Molly
Owens and Kelly Crimmins recorded four kills apiece, Ines Zanotti
registered five assists, and Kristina Purcell had a team-best 21
digs.
UDC was led by the play of Vanessa Garley who totaled 12 digs
and one ace. Grace Perilli added nine kills, four aces and
four digs and Ashley Jefferson totaled three kills, one ace and
four digs.
CUA will return to action on Saturday, September 11 when the
Cardinals open up their 2010 home schedule with a pair of matches
inside the DuFour Center. First up is a match versus
Washington College at 11:30 AM, while later in the day CUA will
take on Shenandoah beginning at 3:30.
