CUA tunes up for conference champ. at Gettysburg Invite

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Running against a strong field of competitors, CUA finished 23rd in the team standings out of 31 schools in attendance, with 640 points, at the Gettysburg Invitational on Saturday.  Camelia Mayfield led the way individually, with a 59th place finish in a time of 25:53.05.

Other runners that competed for the Cardinals included Laura Kinley, who came in 109th in a time of 26:47.81, Keely Eckberg (144), Kristen Rayfield (160), Katie Sacker (176), Grace Lally (234), Madeline Holtz (256), Rebecca Radcliffe (268), Corrine Dolan (288), Kathryn Crawford (289), and ­­Emma Needham (307).

Malone University captured the team title with 41 points, followed by Bucknell (74), Shippensburg (104), Cedarville (126), and Johns Hopkins (142).

Individually, Ivette Mejia of Saint Vincent took the crown, crossing in 23:24.20 with Ashley Teets of Alderson Broaddus College coming in second, posting a time of 23:40.46.

CUA is now off for two weeks before heading to the Lehigh Valley on Saturday, October 29 for the 2011 Landmark Conference championships, which will be held on the campus of Lehigh University.  Action gets underway beginning at 1 p.m.
