Cardinals place 15th at regionals; Mayfield crosses in 26th
SEQUIN, TEXAS – CUA placed 15th at the NCAA Regional Championship on Saturday, which was held on the campus of Texas Lutheran University. Camelia Mayfield had a strong race for CUA, finishing in 24:15.7, which was good for 26th place and a spot on the All-Region Teams.
For Mayfield, this completes another strong season on the trail. She earned her second straight All-Conference accolade in October, and now earns her first All-Region honor, one year after posting a top-50 finish at the regional championship.
Along with Mayfield, other Cardinals that raced on Saturday included Keely Eckberg, who finished in 26:12.1 (96), Grace Lally, who crossed in 26:37.7 (119), Madeline Holtz (129), Katie Sacker (138), Kristen Rayfield (149),
Emory won the team title with 45 points, followed by Rhodes (86), Centre (92), Trinity (102), and Christopher Newport (179).
Individually, Sophia Stone of Mary Baldwin won the crown with a time of 22:10.1, and she was followed by Emory's Tess Gallegos, who crossed in 22:15.5.
