Huntington, Pa. — The Catholic University of America women's cross country team put forth an impressive performance at the Landmark Preview Meet hosted by Juniata as they bested five other squads to take second at the site of November's league championship.
Senior Kiera Lyons led the way forth Catholic as she cracked the 25-minute mark in the six-kilometer race with a time of 24:50.50.
The Cardinals also boasted four top-20 finishes. Rookie Tara Thornton sped to a time of 26:24.90, good for 11th overall. Fellow freshman Shannon Griffin was just behind as she was also sub 27-minute at 26:51-flat and finished 14th.
Junior Theresa Matula rounded out standout performances with a 19th-place finish as she crossed the finish line with a time of 27:26.00
The Cardinals will enjoy an off week before heading to Shenandoah for the Harrier Invite on Saturday, September 23rd at 10 a.m.
