Lyons Earns Landmark Cross Country Athlete of the Week

WASHINGTON — The Catholic University of America women's cross country senior standout Kiera Lyons was selected as the Landmark Conference Athlete of the Week after her performance last week, as announced on Monday afternoon.

Catholic earned the win at the Hood College Open behind the first-place performance of Lyons who won her first career meet as she bested 93 other runners.

Lyons raced to a time of 23.50.3, over 12 seconds faster than the second-place finisher. She averaged a 6:23.5-mile in the six-kilometer race.

This is her first Landmark cross country weekly honor but has twice won track & field conference accolades.

Saturday's meet was Catholic's final tuneup before next Saturday, Landmark Conference Championships at Juniata.
