CUA Women's Cross Country Wins Nevins Invitational
Jenna Hackett takes third to lead the team
EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. - The Catholic University women's cross country team won the Nevins Invitational on Saturday in Pennsylvania. Although the event featured nine teams and 84 runners it was basically a two-team race between CUA and the host East Stroudsburg with the Cards coming out on top.
Jenna Hackett (Fort Collins, Colo./Fort Collins) paced CUA placing third in a time of 20:13. Right behind her was Mary Shashaty (Scotch Plains, N.J./Scotch Plains-Fanwood) who ran a 20:16. The Cardinals placed a third runner in the top ten with Tara Wilson (Shelter Island Heights, N.Y./Shelter Island) taking ninth running a 20:34. Chelsie Boska from Drew won the overall title coming in at 19:41.
Samantha McClellan (Union Town, Ohio/Saint Thomas) also came in with the lead pack taking 11th in a time of 20:42. Rounding out the top seven point scorers for CUA was Teresa Mascia (Stirling, N.J./Watchung Hills) with a 21:05 for 17th, Alys Cheatle (Hickory, N.C./Saint Steven's) running a 21:38 for 30th place and Angela Montanio (North Potomac, Md.) in 36th with a 21:54.
The Cardinals will take this momentum into the conference meet next Saturday in Salisbury, Md.
