Three Cardinals Named All-Landmark
Women place third at conference meet
TOWSON, Md. - The Catholic University women's cross country took third at the Landmark Conference meet Saturday at Goucher College. The Cardinals scored 82 points wich placed them third behind Juniata (64) and Moravian (75). CUA had three runners named to the all-conference squad including one to the first team.
Jenna Hackett (Fort Collins, Colo./Fort Collins) paced the Cards finishing fifth in a time of 25:04. That finish was good enough to place her on the All-Landmark first team. Behind Hackett was Alys Cheatle (Hickory, N.C./St. Stephen's) and Mary Shashaty (Scotch Plains, N.J./Scotch Plains-Fanwood) crossing the line at ninth and 12th respectively. Both Cheatle and Shashty earned second team All-Landmark honors for their performance. Cheatle ran a 25:35 while Shashaty posted a 25:51.
Remy Ball (Newtown, Conn./Newtown) was next over the finish line for CUA as she came in at 26:56 for 22nd place. Samantha McClellan (Union Town, Ohio/Saint Thomas) was behind her at 34th in a time of 28:08 to round out the top five for the Cards.
Rounding out the Cardinal squad was Bridgette Smith (Cranbury, N.J./Princeton) at 37th coming in at 28:21 as well as Sara Meade (Pearl, N.Y./Pearl) in 43rd place in a time of 28:43. Mary Kate Owens (Holyoke, Mass./Holyoke) was 50th with a 29:21 and Angela Montanio (North Potomac, Md./Quince Orchard) was 54th overall running to a 29:50.
The Cardinals will have next weekend off before traveling to NCAA Regionals on November 10. The regional meet will be held in Newport News, Va., at Christopher Newport University.
