CUA Takes Ninth at NYU Invite


NEW YORK - The Catholic University women's cross country team finished ninth overall at the NYU Invitational on Saturday.  The team scored 308 points overall, 22 schools competed at the event.

Jenna Hackett (Fort Collins, Colo./Fort Collins) was the top finisher for the Cards coming in at a time of 20:58 to place her 27th overall.  After Hackett there was a drop off as Remy Ball (Newtown, Conn./Newtown) came in at 21:30 for 48th place and Samantha McClellan (Union Town, Ohio/Saint Thomas) finished in 67th place in a time of 21:48.

The Cards ran seven runners and rounding out the scoring was Mary Shashaty (Scotch Plains, N.J./Scotch Plains-Fanwood) in 74th with a 22:01 as well as freshman Sarah Meade (Pearl, N.Y./Pearl) running a 22:46 for the 92nd spot.

The Cardinals will travel to former Capital Athletic Conference rival York College next weekend for their invitational in Pennsylvania.
