CUA women impress with second place finish at Hood Invite
FREDERICK, Md. – Led by freshman Camelia Mayfield's
fourth place finish (25:32.11), the CUA women's cross country
team finished second out of ten schools at the Hood College Invite
on Saturday. The Cardinals totaled 52 points to edge out
third place McDaniel.
Other runners that finished in the top-25 for CUA included
Madeline Cronan in sixth place with a time of 25:44.07, Meghan
Dietzler, who crossed in 26:27.55 and finished 12th, Laura Kinley,
who placed 16th after finishing in 27:00.64, Jessica Breen, who
crossed in a time of 27:04.12 and placed 19th, and Keely Eckberg,
who finished 22nd with a time of 27:24.79.
Rounding out CUA's competitors were Jamie Dalgleish (33),
Madeline Holtz (51), Katherine McQuinn (66), and Kristen Rayfield
(81).
Bridgewater took the team crown with 36 points, followed by CUA
with 52 and McDaniel with 84. Rounding out the team standings
were Westminster, Pitt-Johnston, Penn State-Altoona, Hood, Howard
Community College, Mount Aloysius and Alvernia.
Olivia Mills (24:29.03) and Molly Smith (24:57.60), both of
Bridgewater, finished one-two in the race, respectively.
CUA is off next weekend and will return to action on Saturday,
October 30 when the Cardinals compete at the 2010 Landmark
Conference championship on the campus of Goucher College.
Action gets underway beginning at 11:00 AM.
