Cardinal women have strong showing at UMES Invite
PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – The CUA women's cross country
team had a strong showing on Saturday at the UMES Cappy Anderson
Invite as the Cardinals placed fourth out of ten teams. CUA
registered 116 points to beat out the likes of Division I schools
UMES, Delaware State, Howard, Coppin State, and Morgan State.
CUA's top individual finisher on the day was Camelia Mayfield, who placed 13th with a time of 19:43.62. Other
Cardinals that finished in the top-40 included Katherine Sacker,
who crossed in 21st place with a time of 20:28.49, Madeline Cronan,
who finished in 20:30.85 and placed 24th, Meghan Dietzler, who
placed 27th with a time of 20:34.25, Laura Kinley, who placed 31st
with a time of 20:48.63, Jessica Breen, who crossed in 21:40.48 and
Keely Eckberg, who finished in 38th place with a time of
22:02.55.
In addition, Madeline Holtz finished 42nd, Kathryn Crawford placed
51st, Jamie Dalgleish crossed in 55th place, Kristen Rayfield
finished in 56th place, Maggie Senor placed 63rd, and Katherine McQuinn was 66th.
St. Francis (Pa.) won the team championship with 32 points and the
Red Flash were followed by Hampton with 73 points. Norfolk
State came in third (87), followed by CUA (116), UMES (122),
Delaware State (129), Howard (131), Coppin State (235) and Morgan
State (247).
St. Francis (Pa.)'s Katie Cianci took the top individual
spot with a time of 18:41.80, while UMES's Cynthia Anais was
second as she crossed in 18:45.59.
CUA will return to action on September 25 when the Cardinals
travel to compete at the William & Mary Invitational.
Action gets underway beginning at 11:00 AM.
